Parental Involvement Policy 16-17

Parental Involvement Policy 16-17

An important goal of Gatesville ISD is that parents, community members and educators be active partners in the education of our students.  We encourage parents to discuss with the campus principal opportunities for parent/community involvement and volunteering opportunities at each campus. The most valuable contribution parents can make to the education of your children is to be supportive of their academic endeavors from providing help and support on homework, to communicating with teachers, and reviewing progress reports and report cards with your child. Parents are also encouraged to keep contact information current in order to promote safety and keep communication lines open.

Other ways GISD parents can be involved is:

Attendance at the school activities which include, but are not limited to the following:

Active membership and participation in the VIP or other parent organization
Active membership and participation including attending meetings for booster clubs
(athletic, band, ag  choir)
Attending parenting education series of meetings hosted by the campuses
Attending meetings for college planning, financial aid and scholarship application hosted by the high
         school counselors
Attending meetings specifically for your child such as LPAC, 504, SSI, or ARD meetings
Attending contests and events for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
Attending Open House, Meet the Teacher, and other special events
      Attending school board meetings

Accepting invitations to membership in district and campus committees such as:

Gatesville ISD District Site Based Committee
      Vocational Advisory Committee
      Campus and School Improvement committees

 Participating in fundraising activities

Football game Concession Stand (Contact Band Boosters)
Campus, VIP, and Booster Club Fundraiser, Other concession stands

Volunteering as a homeroom parent, field trip sponsor, or classroom helper

This District Parental Involvement Policy was evaluated and updated by a committee of administrators, staff, and parents that met on May 11, 2016 in the GISD PD Rooms, Gatesville Primary at 3:45 p.m. to review Title I programming requirements, district plan, compacts and update the District and Campus Parental Involvement policies for the 16-17 school year.
