Returning Student Registration
GISD Transportation Information
Kindergarten Students
- To enroll, Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before September 1st.
- Students must live within Gatesville ISD's attendance boundaries or
- Complete the transfer application process
- For new KG students, follow the steps for New Student Enrollment.
- If your student attended GISD’s PK program, follow the steps for Returning Student Registration.
Prekindergarten Students
- Gatesville ISD does not have a tuition-based Prekindergarten program.
- Gatesville ISD does not accept Prekindergarten out-of-district transfers.
Due to the nature of meeting eligibility criteria for the Prekindergarten Program, students of PK age must go in person to the Primary campus to apply. If qualified, instructions will be provided on using online registration to enroll.
To enroll, Pre-K students must be four years old on or before September 1st and must meet at least one of the qualifications below to attend:
- Students must live within Gatesville ISD's attendance boundaries or have a parent working for the district
- Educationally Disadvantaged:
- The qualification is based on gross household income. Proof of income must be provided at the time of application (current payroll check stub, letter from employer stating wages and how often paid, or tax return for self-employment)
- Receives SNAP or TANF benefits (provide EDG#) (DC List)
- Select types of Medicaid as determined via TxELMS (DC List)
- Head Start or Even Start program
- Children of Members of the Armed Forces - Active Duty
- Child of an active-duty member of the Armed Forces of the United States (Must show proof of a valid/current Military ID card.)
- Child of a reserve component of the Armed Forces or Tx Nat’l Gd who is activated or mobilized to active-duty
- Children of Members of the Armed Forces - KIA, MIA, or Injured
- Child of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
- Missing in Action, must have a document stating the service member is MIA
- Families in transition(Homeless):
- currently not living in their own housing due to economic hardship, or
- other emergency situation, or
- lacks regular, fixed, or adequate nighttime residence
- Limited English Proficient (unable to speak and comprehend the English Language)
- Home Language Survey, and
- Oral Language Proficiency Assessment administered, and
- LPAC approval
- Foster Care
- Currently or have ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing in Texas or any other state in the United States.
- Current Foster students should provide a current 2085 form.
- Previous Foster Students should provide DFPS letter/evidence of eligibility for Pre-K
- Currently or have ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing in Texas or any other state in the United States.
- Star of Texas Award Eligibility
- Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, a firefighter, or an emergency medical first responder who is killed or suffers serious injury in the line of duty
- Classroom Teacher
- Child of a classroom teacher who is employed by a district who teaches an academic or CTE course for no less than four hours per day. (Does not include Administrators or Classroom Aides.)
- The child is only eligible for pre-k in the district where the teacher is employed
- PK Eligible Prior Year
- A four-year-old student who was eligible at the age of three, but is not currently eligible through other criteria
- A five-year-old student who was eligible at the age of four in the previous year, and the parent requested that they be retained in PK, and have not yet started kindergarten
